Byron Bay. Just the name sounds inviting and relaxing. The bluest waters tempting you to run your ass off across hot sand to it's cool watery goodness. Bars and pubs overflowing with people taking time off and laughing with their families and friends. It's just got good vibes and for Ray and I, amazing memories.
Four years previously, we stumbled across a B&B on our way home from Brisbane. A house with a luxe Moroccan style and a view to die for, we fell madly in love. Later that night we found ourselves sitting on the balcony with snacks and ciders talking about how awesome it would be to have our wedding there. We were lost in dreams of hiring the whole house for a weekend away with our families and just casually getting married one night. It was all a dream till Ray proposed, with a coffee cup as I made the bed one morning. No ring and no plan, we jumped into our next adventure.
18 months later, 11 people, three days and so much food and laughter later we were married. With the photographer heading out the door, off came the formal gear and high heels to make way for pjs, dessert and many tear filled toasts. We were so fortunate to have such an intimate weekend away with those who will love us forever and party with our dearest friends when we came back from our honeymoon.
For all you brides-to-be stressing like crazy for your special day, please remember it's inevitable that in planning a wedding you'll step on some toes. My advice? 'Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter' it's your love story anyway!
